World Youth Tchoukball Championships 2027 & World Masters Tchoukball Championships 2027

The World Youth Tchoukball Championships 2027 (WYTC) and the World Masters Tchoukball Championships 2027 (WMTC) will take place in Ferrara, Italy, from 13 to 18 July 2027.

The event is organised by Tchoukball Italia, in collaboration with Ferrara Tchoukball.

Organising Committee

The World Youth Tchoukball Championships 2027 (WYTC) and the World Masters Tchoukball Championships 2027 (WMTC) are organised by Tchoukball Italia, in collaboration with Ferrara Tchoukball.

Communications

All official communications between the Organising Committee and participating national federations will be conducted in English via Discord, before and during the event.

A dedicated Discord server will be created for the event. In addition to global announcement channels for all delegations, each national federation will have a dedicated channel for direct communication with the Organising Committee.

Further topic-specific channels may be created for registration, accommodation, catering, competition matters, transportation and media information.

As a fallback, the Organising Committee will also be reachable via email. The official email address will be published at a later stage.

Official language

The official language of the event will be English. All official documents, communications and registration materials will be provided in English.


Schedule

The WYTC 2027 and WMTC 2027 will take place in Ferrara from 13 to 18 July 2027.

The official arrival day for delegations is Tuesday, 13 July 2027, while the official departure day is Sunday, 18 July 2027.

All Youth and Masters tournaments will take place simultaneously.

The Official Opening Ceremony will take place on the evening of 14 July 2027.

The Closing Ceremony and Awards Ceremony are expected to take place on the evening of 17 July 2027, during the Gala Dinner.

The detailed match timetable and daily competition hours will depend on the final number of registered teams in each category. Training slots, accreditation times and the complete competition schedule will therefore be published at a later stage.


Categories & player eligibility

Eligibility for the 2027 championships will be determined according to the calendar year of birth.

A player may not participate in two Youth categories. However, a player may participate in one Youth category and one Open category, provided all applicable FITB eligibility requirements are met.

Official game balls

Only balls officially approved by the International Tchoukball Federation (FITB) will be used during the competition.


Registration & payment

The registration process will be organised in several steps in order to allow the Organising Committee to properly plan the competition, accommodation, catering, venues and event logistics.

Registration timeline

31 October 2026 Official team registration National federations shall officially register each team by category and gender.
30 November 2026 Deposit A deposit of EUR 500 shall be paid for each registered team.
15 January 2027 Preliminary delegation numbers National federations shall provide the preliminary number of athletes, staff members and supporters.
31 March 2027 Players’ details & media National federations shall provide the required details and photos of players and staff members, together with the requested media materials.
30 April 2027 Practical information National federations shall provide allergies, dietary requirements, special needs, travel information and other relevant logistical details.
31 May 2027 Final payment The remaining balance shall be paid by this date.

Expression of interest

Each national federation shall submit one expression of interest by 30 September 2026.

The expression of interest shall indicate the categories and genders in which the federation may wish to participate.

This step is not binding, but it is essential for the Organising Committee to estimate the potential number of teams, athletes, staff members and supporters attending the event.

Official team registration

Official team registration shall be completed by 31 October 2026.

Registration shall be submitted for each team, category and gender.

The number of registered teams will be essential for defining the competition format and the number of playing courts and sports venues required for the event.

Deposit

A deposit of EUR 500 for each registered team shall be paid by 30 November 2026.

The deposit is non-refundable in case of withdrawal of the team or national federation.

The deposit may be refunded only if the relevant tournament or category cannot take place due to an insufficient number of registered teams, or in case of cancellation of the event by the Organising Committee.

Preliminary delegation numbers

By 15 January 2027, national federations shall provide the preliminary number of athletes, staff members and supporters travelling with their delegation.

Federations providing this information earlier will have priority in accessing the most convenient accommodation options, depending on availability.

Players’ details and photos

By 31 March 2027, national federations shall provide the required details of players and staff members, together with individual photos and other requested media material.

Practical information

By 30 April 2027, national federations shall provide all remaining practical information, including allergies, dietary requirements, special needs, travel arrangements and other relevant logistical details.

Final payment

The remaining balance shall be paid by 31 May 2027. Registration will be considered complete only after the final payment has been received.

Currency

All payments shall be made in euros (EUR). Any bank charges for sending and receiving payments shall be paid by the participating national federation.

Packages and fees

The Organising Committee will provide different participation packages depending on the type of accommodation and services selected.

Detailed information about package options, fees, included services and payment instructions will be published at a later stage.


Competition rules

The WYTC 2027 and WMTC 2027 will follow the official regulations of the International Tchoukball Federation (FITB).

Team roster

Each team may register up to 12 players.

The minimum number of players required for each team will be confirmed according to the official FITB regulations.

Each team may also register up to 3 staff members. This limit is currently subject to final confirmation.

Supporters may be registered as part of the national federation delegation. Further information about supporter packages, services and access will be provided at a later stage.

Competition format

The competition format will depend on the final number of registered teams in each category.

The format is expected to include one or more round-robin groups followed by final ranking matches and/or knockout stages.

The final competition format will be decided by the FITB Technical Commission and communicated to participating national federations before the event.

All WYTC and WMTC categories will take place simultaneously.

Referees

Each participating team shall register and bring the required number of valid FITB referees for the competition.

The final number of required referees will be confirmed according to FITB instructions. As a preliminary reference, teams should expect to provide up to 3 valid FITB referees per registered team.

Referees are considered official delegates and must be included in the official registration process.

Location & venues

Ferrara

The World Youth Tchoukball Championships 2027 and World Masters Tchoukball Championships 2027 will take place in Ferrara, Italy.

Ferrara is a historic city in Northern Italy, located in the Emilia-Romagna region. The city offers a compact urban structure, a welcoming atmosphere and a strong tradition in hosting national and international tchoukball events.

Further practical information about the city, local services and points of interest will be published at a later stage.

Sports venues

The competition will be hosted in indoor sports venues in Ferrara.

The confirmed venues currently include:

  • the new sports facility at Foro Boario;
  • Palasport di Ferrara;
  • Palaboschetto.

An additional venue, Palapalestre, may be added depending on the final number of registered teams and the competition format.

The main venue is expected to be the new sports facility at Foro Boario, which is currently being completed.

The final number of playing courts will depend on the number of registered teams in each category. For this reason, national federations are strongly encouraged to respect the registration timeline and provide information about their teams as early and accurately as possible.

Further information about venue allocation, training courts, match courts, accreditation areas and spectator access will be published at a later stage.

Changing rooms

Changing rooms will be available at the sports venues.

The facilities will be cleaned every day in order to guarantee comfortable and suitable conditions for all athletes and delegations.

Teams are kindly asked to respect the shared spaces and leave the changing rooms clean and tidy after use.

Items left in changing rooms or sports venues at the end of each day will be collected by the Organising Committee. Further information about the lost and found procedure will be provided during the event.


Accommodation & catering

Accommodation

The Organising Committee will provide accommodation options for teams, staff members and supporters through partner hotels and other selected facilities.

The currently planned partner hotels include:

  • B&B Hotel Ferrara;
  • Hotel Lucrezia Borgia;
  • Hotel Duca d’Este.

Additional accommodation options will be added at a later stage, including lower-cost packages where possible.

The final accommodation offer will be organised in different package levels depending on the type of accommodation and services selected.

Federations providing their preliminary delegation numbers earlier will have priority in accessing the most convenient accommodation options, depending on availability.

Catering

The Organising Committee will provide centralised catering services during the event.

Breakfast will normally be provided at the accommodation facilities. Lunches are expected to be served at the sports venues.

The catering company selected for the event is experienced in large-scale events and will be able to manage different dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances and specific diets.

All national federations will be asked to provide detailed information about allergies, dietary requirements and special needs within the official deadlines.

Gala Dinner

The Gala Dinner will take place on the evening of 17 July 2027, together with the Closing Ceremony and Awards Ceremony.

The location and further details will be published at a later stage.

Drinking water

Tap water in Ferrara is drinkable. Teams are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles and refill them during the event whenever possible.

Transportation

Travelling to Ferrara

Participating teams and national federations are responsible for organising their own travel to Ferrara.

The recommended airports for reaching Ferrara are, in order of convenience:

  1. Bologna Airport
  2. Venice Airport
  3. Verona Airport
  4. Milan airports

Ferrara can also be reached by train, with convenient connections through Bologna, Venice and Milan.

Ferrara Centrale is the city’s main railway station and will be the reference station for delegations travelling by rail.

Airport transfers

Delegations are generally expected to organise their own transfers from airports to Ferrara.

The Organising Committee expects to be able to provide paid shuttle services from Bologna Airport to Ferrara, upon request and depending on availability.

For larger groups, shuttle services from other airports or locations may also be considered. Further information about availability, prices and booking procedures will be published at a later stage.

Teams interested in shuttle services are encouraged to communicate their travel plans as early as possible.

Local transportation in Ferrara

During the event, delegations may either organise their own local transportation or request transport support from the Organising Committee.

The Organising Committee is evaluating the possibility of providing paid local transport packages for the full duration of the event. Availability and costs will be confirmed at a later stage.

Ferrara has a compact urban structure and local public transport may be used to move around the city.

Some accommodation options are expected to be within walking distance of the sports venues. In particular, the Palasport area is located close to some of the partner hotels currently planned for the event.

Gala Dinner transportation

If the Gala Dinner takes place in a location that is not easily reachable from the main accommodation areas or sports venues, the Organising Committee will provide further information about dedicated transportation.

Parking

Parking areas are available near the sports venues.

Teams travelling by car, minibus or bus are asked to inform the Organising Committee in advance in order to support parking and arrival logistics.

Information about vehicles, buses and travel arrangements will be collected as part of the practical information requested before the event.


Promotion & social media

Athlete portraits and team pictures

To promote participating national teams and athletes, national federations shall provide portrait pictures of their athletes and staff members, as well as official team photographs, by 31 March 2027.

These materials will be used by the Organising Committee to prepare event communication, team presentations, roster graphics and promotional content before and during the WYTC 2027 and WMTC 2027.

National federations shall also provide:

  • the official logo of the national federation;
  • the national flag;
  • the official colours of the national federation or delegation;
  • the colours of the uniforms that will be used during the competition.

Detailed technical requirements for photos, team pictures, logos and other media materials will be published at a later stage.

Image and video rights

By submitting photos, videos, logos and other media materials, national federations authorise the Organising Committee to use them for event-related communication purposes.

These materials may be used on the event website, social media channels, printed materials, press releases, live coverage, video productions and other official communication channels related to the WYTC 2027 and WMTC 2027.

National federations are responsible for ensuring that athletes, staff members and other registered delegates have given the necessary consent for the use of their image in connection with the event.

Team and roster presentations

The Organising Committee will prepare communication content to present participating national teams and their rosters before the event.

All required media files shall therefore be submitted by 31 March 2027. Late submission may limit the possibility of including a team or athlete in pre-event promotional content.

Media kit

The Organising Committee will provide official event assets to national federations, including the event logo and selected graphic materials for social media communication.

National federations will be encouraged to use the official assets when promoting their participation in the WYTC 2027 and WMTC 2027.

The official media kit will be shared through the event communication channels at a later stage.


Insurance

All participating national federations are responsible for the insurance coverage of their own delegation members, including athletes, staff members, referees, officials and supporters.

Insurance should cover, where applicable:

  • health and medical expenses;
  • accidents and injuries;
  • travel disruption or cancellation;
  • third-party liability;
  • repatriation;
  • personal belongings.

The Organising Committee is not responsible for injuries, illness, travel issues, lost or damaged personal belongings or other individual insurance-related matters.

All delegations are strongly encouraged to check their insurance coverage before travelling to Ferrara.


Other information

Smoke-free policy

Smoking is strictly prohibited inside all indoor sports venues, changing rooms, indoor accommodation areas and other indoor event spaces.

Smoking is permitted outdoors where allowed and in accordance with the rules of each venue or facility.

Sustainability

The Organising Committee aims to reduce unnecessary waste and promote responsible behaviour throughout the event.

Participating teams, staff members and supporters will be encouraged to use reusable bottles, respect waste separation rules, keep the venues clean and limit avoidable single-use materials where possible.

Further sustainability measures may be communicated closer to the event.

Power outlets

In Italy, power outlets are generally Type C, F and L. Delegations are advised to bring appropriate adapters if needed.

Paying in Italy

The official currency in Italy is the euro (EUR).

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, although delegations may wish to carry some cash for small payments.

Weather conditions

Ferrara is usually warm in July. Delegations are advised to prepare for summer weather conditions and bring suitable clothing, sun protection and reusable water bottles.

More detailed weather and practical recommendations will be provided closer to the event.

Lost and found

Items left in changing rooms, sports venues or common areas at the end of the day will be collected by the Organising Committee.

Emergency numbers, medical support information, nearby pharmacies and other useful contacts will be published closer to the event.
